Signing up with woont

How can I sign up for woont?
If you have no woont account yet, you can sign up for woont in a few simple steps.
Click on the 'Register' button at the top of the page. Fill out the form that opens. You will receive an email containing a confirmation link a few minutes later. When you click this link, your registration will be complete.
Why must I enter my date of birth?
Youth protection is an important issue for us. That's why we do not publish profiles of members under 14 years of age.

Signing in and out

How do I sign in?
Click 'Sign in' on the right hand side of the main menu. Enter your username (or email address) and your password and click the 'Sign in' button.
How can I reset my password?
In case you lost your password, you may request a password reset as follows: Click 'Sign in' on the right hand side of the main menu, then click 'Forgot your password?' We will send you an email containing a personalized link to reset your password immediately.
How do I sign out?
Use the mouse to hover over your usename displayed on the right hand side of the main menu. In the drop down menu appearing, click on 'Sign out'.

Managing your account and profile

How can I view my profile?
Switch to the account area by clicking on your user name on the upper right side of the main menu. Within the account area, simply click your profile image or you user name and you will be forwarded to the public view of your profile as other users will see it.
Where does my profile image appear?
Your profile image appears on your public profile page, in member overviews, in search results and close to content you created yourself like interiors and comments.
Can I change, edit or crop my profile image?
You can upload a new profile image and delete an existing one. Image editing or cropping functions are not available yet but planned to be integrated in future.
Address / Contact
Switch to the account area and click 'Edit profile'. On the 'Address / Contact' tab, you may leave your postal address and you can tell others how to get in contact with you - including your internet sites and social network memberships. This might be useful when you are a design professional (e.g. an interior designer or photographer) and you want other people to get in touch with you easily. The information you enter in the 'Address / Contact' tab will appear on your public profile page.
Email notifications
Switch to the account area and click 'Edit profile'. On the 'Settings' tab, you can choose which email notifications you want to receive.
My privacy
You can choose whether all of your profile data shall be publicly visible or not (if you are at least 14 years old). In order to do so, switch to the account area and click 'Edit profile'. On the 'Settings' tab, you can control the public visibility of your profile.
How can I upload a profile image?
Switch to the account area and click 'Edit profile'. You may upload a profile image from there. The image must be at least 600x300 pixels in size.
What's the best format for my profile image?
The image must be at least 600x300 pixels in size. It is viewed in squared as well as in rectangular shape (16:9) and therefore it is cropped automatically during upload. You will experience best results when your image is in landscape format and shows you in center position.
How can I adjust my profile data and account options?
Switch to the account area and click 'Edit profile'. There you'll find all profile data maintenance and account control options.
About me
Switch to the account area and click 'Edit profile'. On the 'About me' tab, you can enter a short text to introduce yourself and tell the community some more about your relationship to interior design. The information you enter in the 'About me' tab will appear on your public profile page.
Closing my account
Switch to the account area and click 'Edit profile'. On the 'Settings' tab, you can initiate the deletion of your community profile and account. All your settings, personal data, pictures and description will be deleted irrevocably! It will not be possible to recover any of your data. Further on, you can neither sign in using your old username nor open a new account with the same name.
Who can see my info?
When you choose 'not publicly visible' for your profile, everybody will be able to see your username, your profile image, your photos and your home country. In addition, all comments you write will be visible.
When you choose 'publicly visible' for your profile, all information in your profile will be visible.

Interiors

What is an interior?
woont.com gives you the opportunity to create 'interiors' based on the pictures of the rooms in your house, your office or even pictures of public places and buildings like restaurants or museums in order to present them to the woont community. You find these by clicking 'Interios' in the main menu.
Where do I find my interiors?
Switch to the account area and go to the 'Interiors' section. All interios you created can be found there.
How do I create an interior?
Switch to the account area, go to the 'Interiors' section and click 'Add interior'.

  • Step 1: Create interior

    This serves to give a short description of your interior. Please enter a catchy title for your interior, select interior type and categoy and describe the interior with some words. In the case of public buildings, you can also add the interior's address.

  • Step 2: Upload pictures

    Click on 'UPLOAD YOUR PHOTOS NOW' to upload one or more photos of your interior. In order to ease upload and to give you the opportunity to check the images immediately, cropped previews of your images are shown. Other visitors of your interior's page will see the original size images later, of course.
    After completing the actual upload, you can choose a preferred photo for the interior. To do so, hover over the image with your mouse and click the check-mark in the upper left corner.
    The minimum image size is 800x500 pixels.

  • Step 3: Mark furniture

    In the pictures you uploaded, select the furniture you know by clicking on them. After the click, you can enter furniture name as well as manufacturer name. Using the arrow left hand side and right hand side, you can flip through your pictures to add markers to all of them. Furniture you already identified will appear in the left sidebar. If a furniture appears multiple times on your pictures, just drag it from the sidebar into the picture.

  • Step 4: Interior info

    This area allows you to enter further data about your interior. The information you give is not mandatory but they are of great help for other community members when they search through interiors in order to find some amazing ideas for their homes.

How can I edit an interior?
Switch to the account area and go to the 'Interiors' section. Use your mouse to hover over the interior you want to edit and click on 'Edit interior'.

Photos and albums

Where do I find my photos?
Switch to the account area and click 'My photos'. You will see a list of all photo albums you created containing the photos you uploaded.
Where are my photos shown?
All you photos are shown on your public profile page.
How can I create a new album?
Switch to the account area and click 'My photos'. On the album overview page that opens, choose 'New album'. Give you new album a fancy name and upload at least one photo into the album.
After uploading some photos, you can chose the preferred photo of the album. To do so, hover over the image with your mouse and click the check-mark in the upper left corner.
How can I upload photos?
Switch to the account area and click 'My photos'. Hover with your mouse over the album to which you would like to add add some phots and click on 'Edit album'. If you have no album yet, you must create a new one.
Now you can one or more photos to the album.
Where are the photos that I uploaded for my interiors?
Your interior's photos are stored with the interiors themselves. They are therefore not show in the 'My photos' area.
If you want to edit the photos of your interiors, switch to 'Interios' and edit the interior in question.
How can I delete a photo?
Switch to the account area and click 'My photos'. Hover with your mouse over the album that contains the photos you want to delete and click on 'Edit album'. All photos of the album will be displayed.
Hover over the photo you want to delete and click the red cross in the upper right corner. Don't forget to click 'Update album' after completing all deletions/changes.

Warning! When you delete photos, they are removed irrevocably from our servers! They cannot be restored again.
How can I delete an album?
Switch to the account area and click 'My photos'. Hover with your mouse over the album you want to delete and click on 'Delete'. All photos of the album will be displayed. If your album contains any photos, they will be deleted with the album. In this case you will see a warning message that you have to confirm.

Warning! When you delete photos, they are removed irrevocably from our servers! They cannot be restored again.

News

What appears in my News?
Your news feed will inform you about all news, actions and changes on objects you own (e.g. comments that are made on your profile or one of your interiors) and on objects on your watchlist.
Where can I find my personal news feed?
Switch to the account area and click 'News'.
I don't want to receive any further news about an object
If you don't want to receive any further news about an object, you must remove the object from your Watchlist. To do so, switch to the account area and click 'Watchlist'. Hover with your mouse over the object you want to remove and click on 'Watch' to remove it from the list. The object will be removed from the Watchlist and you will not receiver any more informations updates about it.

Comments

How can I post a comment?
To post a comment, you need to sign in first. Then simply write your message into the comment area labeled 'What do you think?' underneath the object in question and click 'Send' to post your comment. In order prevent spam and misuse of commenting, random samples of the comment stream are checked by out editorial staff prior to publication.
How can I reply to comments?
Click on the 'Reply' button underneath the comment you want to respond to. Answers on comments are displayed indented below the original comment.
How can I delete a comment?
Directly below the comment you wish to remove, click the 'Delete' button. Please keep in mind that you can only delete comments that you wrote yourself.
If there's already a reply on the comment you want to delete, you are able to delete it anyhow but the reply will remain visible.
Why are some of my comments being checked by editors?
It's because of spammers and other morons. In order prevent spam and misuse of commenting, random samples of the comment stream are checked by out editorial staff prior to publication.

Likes

What happens when I click 'Like'?
Clicking 'Like' on any of the objects means that you want to show to the object's owner as well as the community that like this object. A complete list of all objects you like can be found in the 'Likes' area of your account.
What to do when I no longer like an object?
When you no longer like an object, click the object's 'Like' link again. This will remove the existing like setting.
What's the difference between 'Like' and 'Watch'?
Using 'Like' you can mark objects that please you. In contrast, the 'Watchlist' is intended for objects that are interesting for you in the future: You all news, updates and comments on these watched objects will be displayed in your personal news feed. A complete list of all objects you like and watch can be found in your account.

Watchlist

What happens when I click 'Watch'?
You add objects to your watchlist when you have a future interest in them: you will receive news, change information and comments on this object in your personal newsfeed.
A complete list of all objects you watch can be found in the 'Watchlist' area of your account.
What to do when I want to remove an object from my watchlist?
When you no longer want to watch an object, click the object's 'Watch' link again. This will remove the existing like setting.

Other help areas

Report inappropriate content
Can easily report any malicious content by clicking the 'Participate' button in the left sidebar. Please feel free to do so when you find offensive pictures or texts, copyright infringements or other inappropriate use of the platform.
