History of Pedrali

Pedrali, design oriented

Pedrali is an Italian furniture manufacturer founded in 1963 that offers its collection of product families, conceived in terms of functionality and design, to an international public, in both contract and residential sectors.

Chairs, stools, tables, lamps and furnishing accessories are made in plastic (polypropylene, polycarbonate, polyethylene, engineering plastic, nylon, methacrylate), metal (cast iron, steel, stainless steel, aluminium), solid wood (oak, beech, walnut, ash) and plywood.

The production is 100% Made in Italy and manufactured exclusively inside its own production facilities which has various specialised production departments. All plastic and metal products are made in the factory of Mornico al Serio (BG), while wooden products are made at Pedrali Lab in Manzano (UD), the subsidiary in Friuli that specialises in developing, engineering and producing wooden seating.

Pedrali dedicates constant attention to product development, through research into optimum raw materials and careful endurance testing of all products before going into production. The result is a high level of quality and top quality certifications.

The collaboration with internationally known designers has produced some breathtaking items as Frida, the light but strong chair in real oak design by Odoardo Fioravanti that won the XXII ADI Compasso d’Oro award.

The professional relationship with Odoardo Fioravanti and with Claudio Dondoli and Marco Pocci goes on also in 2012, as well as the one with the creative partners Alberto Basaglia and Natalia Rota Nodari, who will introduce some new projects. Marc Sadler and Alessandro Busana will launch new versions of the already existing collections. The new collaborations concern two emerging design Studios that well represent its rigorous style. The design trio Michele Cazzaniga, Simone Mandelli, Antonio Pagliarulo and the Studio Toso which belongs to brothers Pio and Tito.

The company’s innovative character is also evident in its environmental awareness, right from the design and production phases. In fact Pedrali pay special attention to the materials used, to reducing consumption of raw materials, to rationalising resources, to re-using and recycling waste and to controlling emissions and noise in the workplace. Wood used is FSC-certified, so it comes from forests managed properly and responsibly, in accordance with strict environmental, social and economic standards. To simplify recycling all products are designed to be disassembled back into single materials. Also, polymeric materials bear the ISO 11469 mark, so that they can be easily identified to facilitate reuse or recycling. In the workplaces we have installed modern air and water filter systems that enable efficient monitoring of toxic emissions.

The contract sector and collections

Most products from the collection are destined for the contract sector. Pedrali develops products for big public and private projects, such as hotels, restaurants, bars, retail, cinemas, shopping malls, airports and ships, which Pedrali market through a network of specialised resellers. The wide range of product families both for indoors and outdoors, together with a high level of customisation, means that Pedrali can meet a very varied spectrum of requirements.

The flagship product family in the Pedrali collection, by tradition and for the vastness of its range, is the seating series, going from plastic to hide and leather, wood, plywood and metal, from indoor seating to the best outdoor ones. Every Pedrali chair inspires different emotions and meets different needs. But they all have in common the quality of their materials and their excellent production standard.

Alongside the seating, Pedrali has a collection of tables with bases in cast iron, stainless steel and aluminium, which can be put together, for home or office, with tops in glass or wood. The company also have a line of padded stools, both in wood or up-to-the-minute in plastic, and since 2009 it has also offered a lighting collection with indoor and outdoor items.
