Today, the woodworks manufactory Albert Holz can look back proudly on four generations. The origins of the family business go back to Philipp Holz's great grandfather, Albert Holz, who was still producing handmade furniture in his workshop for his village in 1907. The workshops in which he planed and sanded back in those days are still used by the company as office rooms today. The 1950s marked a first turning point in the transformation from workshop to manufactory: through Oskar Holz's acquaintance with the Architect and Professor, Herta Witzemann, Albert Holz began to design and produce concept and design furniture for well-known and respected architects. A short time later, Albert Holz became the producer of specialized furniture for the legendary Möbelhaus Behr (Furniture House Behr) in Stuttgart. In 1966 his twenty year old son Albert took over the manufactory. In the 1970s in Stuttgart, Albert Holz founded the furniture store, "Die Einrichtung," or roughly, "The Arrangement." The new firm served as a showroom for Albert Holz GmbH, and interior design became part of the company's range. In 1976, the designer and entrepreneur steered the firm further into the direction in which it is still successful today: the production of highest quality fine furniture. Thanks to the work of his son Philipp Holz, office furniture is now produced by Albert Holz GmbH for fine furniture labels all throughout the world.
